One Step Further
One Step Further's mission is to provide free legal services to teenage parents who, due to lack of financial resources, have no access to the services of an attorney. These individuals might not have access to a system of justice traditionally available to the more affluent members of society.
The Legal Rights of Teenage Parents
The One Step Further Program will
operate in a series of three (3) steps:
Step One
General information group sessions for teen parents.
A lawyer who can explain the law and answers general questions will lead the discussions.
Step Two
Teens who qualify as low-income and who have their parent or guardian's permission, can meet with a lawyer for one on one confidential counseling.
Step Three
In certain cases, a lawyer will prepare the
necessary legal papers and/or represent a young parent in court once the teen's legal guardian files the prepared document.
